DiapersWomen Give San Diego (WGSD) had its first meeting of 2015 with an entertaining Game of Passion theme. At the home of Rosanne Holliday, Women Give members celebrated another year of successful grantmaking, while continuing to give back by gathering diaper donations to support vulnerable mothers in San Diego County. WGSD was proud to donate over a carload of diapers to local non-profit organizations of San Diego. Dr. Patricia L. Petterson, Director of Clinical Services for Catholic Charities of San Diego, graciously accepted the donations, and described the overwhelming struggle for mothers living in poverty to balance the challenges of caring for their children while also seeking to gain self-sufficiency.

Dr. Petterson expressed her gratitude to Women Give by noting, “Most people would find it hard to believe that every day in San Diego there are women in such challenging financial straits that they are literally unable to change their babies’ diapers regularly because they have no money to purchase new ones. We are grateful that Women Give recognized this need and took action to help.”

ContestantsThe Game of Passion theme was then ignited through a presentation graciously led by Women Give member and celebrated sexologist, Jennifer Gunsaullus, PhD. Dr. Jenn facilitated a game show with four WGSD contestants, who answered questions about sexual health and female sexuality research in a welcoming and entertaining environment. The entire audience was involved in the game show, calling out answers to help the contestants. After the winners were announced, Dr. Jenn fielded audience questions as a lively discussion continued throughout the evening surrounding sexual issues, gender, and age.

Women Give looks forward to another exciting year of supporting women in girls in San Diego.
